Overview of Multi-Media Certification


Picasa in Education


Activity (Time Permitting):

  • Decide on a focus topic that you are likely to teach this coming year.
  • Gather images online - or using a digital camera.
  • Import the images into Picasa.
  • Organize the images into albums (in a way that might be useful to you or your students).
  • Edit the images to improve their effectiveness or impact.
  • Create a slideshow of the images and share it with a colleague.

Photostory in Education


Activity (Time Permitting):

  • Decide on a focus topic that you are likely to teach this coming year. (This can be the same topic you chose above... or a new one.)
  • Gather images online - or using a digital camera.
  • Import the images into Photostory.
  • Create a digital story complete with titles, narrations, and a soundtrack.
  • Export the digital story and share it with a colleague.

Online Photos and Slideshows


Activity (Time Permitting):

  • Choose images from Picasa to share online. (You can choose to share the images from the 1st Activity if applicable.)
  • Upload some of the images to Picasa Web and/or Flickr. Or, upload individual images to your blog or wiki.
  • Add keywords, tags, descriptions, or body text as appropriate.
  • Share a link to your images with your colleagues. Add your link below (ask for help with this step if necessary):
    • Your Name - Link to your shared images
    • Your Name - Link to your shared images

Proof-of-Concept Projects

  • First, return to and complete any of the above activities that you weren't able to complete earlier in the day.
  • Then, consider which of these tools you might want to use as part of your final Proof-of-Concept project.
  • Use any remaining time for create a quick prototype for your final project.
  • Ideally, each activity you complete throughout the workshop might play a roll in your final project.
